I revisited Galveston on my April 2009 visit to Texas. This time we were attracted by the blanket of yellow flowers covering the ground at an old cemetery.

There were few floral decorations (even plastic ones) on any of the old graves. The spread of coreopsis and Indian blanket flower are the only flowers around the old stones.

The Old City Cemetery is one of several connected cemeteries bordered by a residential neighborhood.

The cemetery predates the Civil War, and has many ornately carved monuments.

The flowers are even starting to take over the cracks in the walkways.
